Flag Day Finds

In honor of Flag Day today, The Bag Lady wanted to bring you the best in American Flag-inspired handbags.

Unfortunately there aren’t many from which to choose. Most of the flag motif bags are tacky, tacky, tacky. No surprise actually: there isn’t much in Americana fashion that can be worn outside of a Wal-Mart somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Ralph Lauren does it well, of course. And Old Navy can pull it off. But beyond that, all we saw were cheap tote bags and bad bedazzling.

All is not lost, however, for our patriotic fashionistas. The Bag Lady did find a red, white and blue iPod case from Case-mate. This fun, cool cover sells for $24.99 from www.case-mate.com

I think it's so un-american to have flag-anything except for actual flags (maybe flag shaped pins) and it absolutely disgusts me to see it on items like shoes and underwear and swimsuits. i don't want to see the symbol of america's freedom on someone's ass!

I'm not as gung-ho as brad up there, but I do think that ipod cases and phone cases and stuff look best in neutral colors, so that they don't clash with your handbag. a lot of bags actually come with coordinated covers these days!
